RESEARCH · lab notes · public

Numbers that matter, written as we find them.

These are research notes from the THIRI lab — measured hardware, negative results, and builds still in progress. Not a catalog. Not a waitlist. Each thread is one finding and a link.

  1. ARCHIVE

    Game THIRI

Public notes when there is a verified benchmark, an architectural break, or a market shift. Subscribe on the homepage — nothing auto-sends.

  2. MEASURED

    HORN SXTN on Elk Stomp

0.592 ms average inside a 1.333 ms deadline on a stock Stomp. First place at the Elk Audio Challenge, MUTEK Forum, August 22–23, 2026. The pedal is not for sale.

  3. WIP

Roland Aerophone — breath to changes

Dual-VST wind rig: MIDI for intent and breath CC, line audio for envelope. Full-rig load sits at 1.18–1.29 ms of the same 1.333 ms budget.

  4. NEGATIVE RESULT

Stable Audio — text prompts do not hold harmony

Text-only control grades 2 of 12 bars against the chart — chance. Audio conditioning via init_audio failed a pre-registered attribution test (r = +0.98 with leftover skeleton).

  5. MEASURED

Run the Changes — every chart is a level

Thirty levels, eight keys, 67/67 chords verified against the engine. A practice loop built for the stretch where beginners quit — playable on the page.

  6. WIP

Audiotool NEXUS — an agent still needs a theory layer

thiri-mcp can reason the changes today. Writing those changes into a live multiplayer session is the remaining build.

  7. WIP

Roland Cloud — connection is not yet intelligence

Connected instruments need a harmony layer that is correct every time. The API exists; the product conversation is open.

  8. WIP

    Composer C — conversational Csound

Plain language compiles to named p-fields. Closed-loop listen-back verifies chord tones. The download is a real .csd.
