06 · THE 4-YEAR AGENTIC MUSIC HORIZON (2027 TO 2030 TL;DR)
Where agentic music making is going in five years.
Prompting a text box for a stereo MP3 is a transitional phase. Stereo MP3s cannot hold a chord chart (39% chord share on unsteered Magenta RealTime 2), cannot hold a tempo grid (0 of 10 on Lyria Pro at 120 bpm), cannot pass copyright provenance audits, and cannot react to a live player inside a 1.333 ms callback. Here is the four-year arc we are building for.
From Stereo Prompts to Bar-Locked, Steered Stems
Filmmakers, game developers, and DAW producers move away from one-shot stereo generators toward bar-locked stems steered by symbolic theory rails. Agents call THIRI before generation to lock voicings and leading tones, and run thiri_detect.py afterward to reject any stem that falls below the 33% chord-tone chance floor.

Mandatory Stem Provenance & Harmonic Auditing
Following the generative training lawsuits, streaming DSPs, film distributors, and sync agencies require machine-verifiable proof of authorship and clean sample lineage. Every THIRI score exports a cryptographic PROVENANCE.json and VERIFY.md proving human/THIRI harmonic authorship and licence-clean synthesis (Csound, Faust WASM, or licensed studio corpora).

Cloud LLMs have 300 to 2,000 ms of network latency, making them unusable on a live stage. Because the THIRI C++20 engine executes in 0.82 ms on an embedded ARM Cortex-A7, harmonic intelligence moves directly into stage pedals (HRN SXTN), wind controllers, and DAW audio callbacks: listening to a soloist and counter-moving five formant-preserved voices in real time.

Games, interactive films, spatial environments, and 24/7 broadcasts (Meridian) ship with a lightweight SCORE.md + HARMONY.json spec that conducts physical modeling (Faust/Csound), 3D acoustic sample retrieval (Sound Corpus 3D), and voice-led harmony directly on the listener's device at zero marginal cloud cost.
